Short-block Assembly

Now I'm ready to really make progress - time to do more of the final engine assembly. Now that the crankshaft is ready, it's time to put it in the case and seal it up! Prior to assembly, I bought Jake Raby's Type 4 engine rebuild DVD and watched it several times. I follow his sequence of events, procedures, torque specs, etc. I'm anxious to have this engine not leak oil, since that was one of the reasons for rebuilding it in the first place, soI've been very liberal with using Permatex aviation sealant. Over the course of a week or so, this step took about 6 hours:
